Updating South Boston transportation

On Behalf of | Nov 14, 2022 | Real Estate Zoning |

There is a lot in the works for Boston’s future. City planners, builders and business owners are looking at the potential for where Boston can be in the next several years.

Part of building a better community is the transportation that helps every resident get where they need to go so they can take part in the events in this great city. The Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) recently announced the South Boston Transportation Action Plan (SBTAP).

Here’s what you should know about the plan and how it will support the Boston community.

Imagine Boston 2030 and Go Boston 2030

Both Imagine Boston 2030 and Go Boston 2030 include several initiatives to support the city, and its development, including:

  • Improving transportation
  • Expanding neighborhoods
  • Creating a climate-resilient waterfront
  • Reducing disparities in neighborhoods

As the city develops, it will be essential for residents to be able to utilize the new benefits Boston has to offer.

Improving transportation in South Boston

Creating a better transportation system means knowing where the current system is lacking. The improvement process will begin with a resident survey that will be open until mid-December. The survey will look at resident habits, preferences and needs.

There will also be continued information-gathering as city planners look at how to support the current structure and the new developments to come between now and 2030. As planners, builders and developers look at the future, it will be necessary for business owners and others to be prepared for how these plans will impact Boston businesses in the future.
